Summary

The night I catch my husband cheating is the night I stop pretending.

I don't cry. I don't scream. I don't get mad—I get even.

So I bring home another man—a stranger with wicked eyes and a smile sharp enough to carve me open. I let him have me in the house I share with a liar.

A moment of weakness? Maybe.

A moment of revenge? Definitely.

But he saw me—the darkness, the hunger, the parts my husband hated—and he wanted more.

I ran before I could fall deeper into his abyss.

A year later, I crash one of the city's most forbidden parties… And land right back in the middle of his depraved world.

Only this time, he's promised to another. And he vows he's not letting me go.

A dark romance standalone.

I’m currently listening to this audiobook and I have pretty mixed feelings. The story itself is actually really enjoyable, and I find myself genuinely interested in what’s happening. However, the narration is a completely different story.

The male narrator sounds almost entirely emotionless, like he’s just reading the text out loud rather than performing it. It really takes away from the experience and makes it hard to stay immersed. It honestly feels like such a missed opportunity, because the material deserves better.

On the other hand, the female narrator does a much better job and brings some life into the story, which only makes the contrast more noticeable.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but this stood out enough that I felt I had to say something. It’s frustrating because I like the book itself, but the flat delivery from one of the narrators really undermines the whole audiobook. I can’t help but wonder if this was the best use of my credits.

The man narrator talks without any emotion
