Such detailed and witty observations of character, Really transports the reader to the village itself. The narrator is perfect. Timing and characterisation impeccable. village life but not without plot, including a fascinating study of nature, cooperation, and trauma, but without melodrama and full of hope. Will look out for more Miss Read books, and absolute pleasure!
