You can’t trust your senses—and you sure as hell can’t trust the ship.

The P.U.V. James Keeling has two objectives: raid enemy supply lines, and capture live specimens of a flesh-eating, warmongering alien species. The first mission is suicidal. The second might be worse.

But there’s a complication. The operation unfolds in the territory of a neutral power—one whose ships escort the enemy, and whose laws forbid Keeling’s crew from firing back. A single stray artillery shell could spark a second war, one the Planetary Union will not survive.

Through it all, the crew must endure the living nightmare of serving on the Crypt. Every “dive” through transdimensional space peels back another layer of reality. Crewmembers whisper of things seen in the dark, things that shouldn’t exist. Stress compounds. Sanity frays. A crew of rejects, thieves, murderers, and cowards—the “best of the worst“—face death at every turn.

When even your bunkmate might try to kill you, who can you trust?

Book two of The Crypt plunges into unknowable terror, where you can’t trust your own senses—and the ship itself may be the greatest threat of all.

No spoilers for you, cowboy.

I wasn't initially certain about the original Crypt novel, but by the end of it I was all-in. It was an intensely claustrophobic story that really nailed the uncomfortable feeling of the being on the ship. With the first dive into the "mud" there was a real sense of apprehension about what could happen next.

With this second book of the series, the ship reveals it still has tricks up its sleeve, while the mission takes this inherently alien ship into a massively challenging ambush. It builds on the lore established in book 1 and that of the Siglerverse as a whole. Very much a strong continuation of the story and audio page-turner.

Excellent universe

I’ve read a lot of “hard SciFi” some is very much by the numbers, but this story line really captured me. I love stories about mysterious alien technology, and that whole discovery arc of finding out what it really is - or is not.
You must read The Crypt before reading this book as it follows directly on.
I can throughly recommend these books - and I’m really looking forward to the next in the series. In fact I can’t wait

Gripping - couldn’t put it down

Things are starting to get weirder on the Crypt and Scott is nicely ratcheting up the suspense on what’s to come. Can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Great second book

Sigler strikes again with another series set in his own universe, following on where he left off from the last book This continues the story nicely, leaving you ready for more. If you like sci-fi and horror this is the place to be, and in the great narration this does not disappoint.

Another worthy series
