WARRIORS OF GOD, the second volume of the Hussite Trilogy by Andrzej Sapkowski, author of the bestselling Witcher series, depicts the adventures of Reynevan and his friends in the years 1427-28 as war erupts across Europe.

Reynevan begins by hiding away in Bohemia but soon leaves for Silesia, where he carries out dangerous, secret missions entrusted to him by the leaders of the Hussite religion. At the same time he strives to avenge the death of his brother and discover the whereabouts of his beloved. Once again pursued by multiple enemies, Reynevan is constantly getting into and out of trouble.

Sapkowski's deftly written novel delivers gripping action full of numerous twists and mysteries, seasoned with elements of magic and Sapkowski's ever-present - and occasionally bawdy - sense of humour. Fans of the Witcher will appreciate the rich panorama of this slice of the Middle Ages.

Again, it's not for everyone, but if you like your historical fantasy extra historical then you won't be disappointed. If you are not a historical fanatic, you can still enjoy the story by treating all the names and places as flavor, and not necessarily something to be remembered. The iteration is also great, it must have been hard to work with so many different languages and references, and not butcher them completely.

Great sequel

Warriors of God by Andrzej Sapkowski. Normally, as an anti-theist I stay away from books surrounded in religion but I became a fan of this medieval take by the close of the book. The work was detailed and the narration by @PeterKennyVoice incredible. 📚 5/5⭐ #BookReview storyline

Peter Kenny is as usual wonderful and the adventures just get better and better. I now need to await book 3 but it is a price well with paying for more of this delightful story. I really had doubted that this would be as good as the Witcher books but it really is whilst being set in a completely different time... I do keep expecting Cirilla or Yennifer to appear but there are other nice occasiional links suggesting this world may be their world or may just have been conjoined.

This series is not the straight historical fiction that I had expected but is better for it.

Just so unbelievably wonderful

After finishing the Witcher series, I couldnt think that another series of books could give me the same sense of satisfaction in terms of fantasy & lore; but once I read the Tower of Fools, I was given quite a surprise.

Though with this second book in the series, I was left frustrated at times. I felt like there were too many sub-plots to the story and too many characters to recollect. I understand that depth is needed when creating lore, but I guess moderation could have helped in making the story in general more straightforward. By the halfway point I was close to finishing abruptly.

Despite this, I an glad that I stuck through to the end; the final third was worth the wait and as always, Peter Kenny delivered another brilliant performance. Looking forward to reading the final book.

Tedious story, but worth it at the end.

Normally I refrain from reviews, but recently poor performances have made me appreciate really good ones, Peter Kenny masterfully delivers almost perfect native pronunciation, Latin and a myriad of accents and inflections that make you feel like you’re there.

FANTASTIC PERFORMANCE!
