Summary

Eat Pray Love meets Want.

Wayward Women is a unique, searingly honest, devastatingly raw two-person memoir about the friendship, travels and sex lives of two fiftysomething women finding their way again after divorce.

It’s an entertaining, emotional and geographical journey that bounces around the world from Florida to India, Lapland to Hong Kong, as the authors—both leading travel writers—relay their experiences as midlife women–love, loss, parenthood, divorce, menopause–along with the tales of the inspirational women they meet along the way, and the growth of their friendship.

The readers don't entirely capture the tone I know the authors would have read their own work in – difficult to not be picky about this when you know the authors!

An enjoyable mix of travel writing and memoir. A reminder of the power of female friendships. makes me proud to be a woman!

I was recommended this book by a friend and I'm so glad I decided to read it. I don't usually read a lot of biography/memoir books, but this one was definitely worth my time. Honest and raw, it's told with such humour that despite the, at times, downright depressing topics/events being told, they somehow never drag you down. These women are a few decades ahead of me, yet their stories and experiences are, for the large part, completely recognisable and relatable. In some ways, it was like a crystal ball gaze into what the future may hold in terms of personal development and shift in views and priorities for women in their 30s, 40s and 50s (I'm still optimistic enough to hope that not all of us will be divorced by then but also realistic enough to think that if we aren't, that will come with its own price, and regardless, I suspect the change that women to through as they age is actually unrelated to male companionship status) delivered in a brutally honest and yet funny manner.
If you're hesitating because this type of book isn't usually your thing, I strongly recommend you give it a go.

Thoroughly entertaining and brutally bare

I absolutely loved Wayward Women! Rhonda and Tracey’s honesty throughout the book is refreshing, sometimes almost shockingly honest, which is exactly what makes it feel real and relatable.

They are incredibly likeable and their friendship really shines through. The stories of their travels are full of wonderful detail, and their descriptions of the places they visit made me feel as if I was there with them. More than once it made me want to pack a bag and see more of the world.

What I appreciated most was how inspiring it is for women in midlife, especially those navigating menopause or life after big changes. It is a reminder that adventure, reinvention and friendship do not stop with age.

Warm, funny, honest and inspiring. I would highly recommend it. Mermaids rule!

I loved this book so much!
