Editorial Review

Small town, big secrets
Karin Slaughter is one of those authors I always turn to when I want a story that completely pulls me in. We Are All Guilty Here focuses on a small Southern town in the United States where a violent crime sends shockwaves through a community full of secrets. I’m intrigued that this isn’t just a whodunit, but more of a “what did we all do?” I’ve got a feeling it will leave us questioning everything—and talking about it long after. Expect a slow-burn suspense that packs a serious emotional punch. If you loved Pieces of Her or Pretty Girls, this one should already be in your wish list. —Dawn G., Audible Editor

I listen to 3 books a week at a minimum.
Most are good.
But when you are listening to a really well written and narrated book it really stands out.
This is one of those.

The pacing was spot on. It had that edge-of-your-seat quality where you keep telling yourself “just one more chapter,” and before you know it, hours have passed. What really stood out was how it managed to stay gripping without ever becoming overwhelming or irritating. The tension built naturally, the twists felt earned, and the unpredictability kept things exciting without losing coherence.
Emotionally, it struck a strong balance. It was gritty and raw when it needed to be, but never felt forced. You could feel the weight of what the characters were going through, and it added depth rather than slowing the story down. In fact, that emotional layer is what made it so hard to put down. The writing itself was excellent—clear, immersive, and confident. It didn’t try too hard, yet still delivered powerful moments that stayed with me. There was never a dull point, no dragging sections, no frustration—just a consistently compelling story from beginning to end.

If you are a glass half full person like me and are addicted to an author, you worry when a brand new book comes out and pray it wont disappoint you. Thankfully, this new one lived up to Karins reputation as a top notch thriller writer. What is even more pleasing is knowing its the first book in a new series..North Falls, book 1. So I cant wait to follow the Clifton family. The Emmy and Jude storyline is brilliant and I am hoping they are going to become a duo who work together. Thank you Karin for a fantastic , harrowing, shocking, heart rending new book. I loved it. not to mention the narration by Kathleen Early who really is the best!

Not a disappointment !
