Summary

'Every day is a perfect day to read this’ Shari Low

Eleanor Sharpley has been living a lie...

Needing to escape her London life quickly, Eleanor throws her things into the back of her car, and heads to her erstwhile best friend Charlie’s family farm.

But Charlie isn’t there. Instead she finds Charlie’s grieving brother Daniel, her eight-month old daughter Hope (a daughter Eleanor had known nothing about), and a crumbling and unloved Damson Farm.

Damson Farm lies at the edge of the village of Ferrington, with the river Maddon flowing at its heart. But Ferrington is a village divided by more than just a river - it is split in two by an age-old feud – between the Old Side and the New Side. Eleanor has run from her problems, straight into a family and a world that has problems of its own.

But Damson Farm has magic too, and as winter gives way to spring, the old farm starts to come to life under Eleanor’s love and care. The orchard starts to blossom with daffodils and bluebells, and the sound of bees busy in their hives fills the warming air. Can Eleanor bring Daniel and the feuding village of Ferrington back to life too, or will her secrets catch up with her first?

Number One bestselling author Beth Moran’s books are heart-warming, funny, and completely addictive. Perfect for all fans of Jill Mansell, Julie Houston, and Jenny Colgan.

The book is ok - well read - nice holiday listen but very predictable. Christmas every day is better

Predictably quaint

Although pretty predictable I enjoyed this book. It was a good listen while I worked. The narration was good too.

Easy feel-good listen

Perfect when you need a comforting, light, if predictable, book.
Well written with believable characters, and lovely descriptions of scenery.
My first Beth Moran - but certainly not my last.

A lovely, comfortable listen.

*Secrets*

Eleanor Sharpley is hiding a secret, she is living a lie and is living a life where she goes to different establishments often writing scathing reviews. The very same reviews that people have hung off her every word. She goes under the pseudonym of Nora Sharp and tried to add balance by adding positive reviews but that was not what was required. She gained quite a following and at the same time losing herself in the process. Although some pushback was expected, things change when she receives a gruesome package delivered to her door, someone knows where she lives.

Eleanor decides to head off to see her best friend Charlie who lives at Damson’s Farm based in the village of Ferrington with the hope of staying for a few days.

When she arrives she is unprepared for meeting not only Daniel Charlie’s brother but her eight month daughter. To her shame she had not even known about her friend’s pregnancy or her passing.

With Daniels’s blessing and offer to stay as long as she likes, Eleanor decides to lovingly look after and renovate the cottage.

The village seems to be split two halves. The Old Side and The New Side. There is so much tension between the two sides due to a Feud and past events and tragedies.

Eleanor aims to unite both sides to much animosity, will Eleanor manage to unite both sides? Is there a budding romance forming and will the secret she is so desperate to keep finally catch up to her.

I can’t believe that I have come to enjoy this genre of writing. As a lifelong Alpha Male who although an avid reader, would be more likely to be found reading or listening to an all action thriller or reading a military biography; I find myself thoroughly enjoying the relaxing stories that this and other authors create. I enjoyed reading this drama that although fiction, had flakes of real life sprinkled through it, highlighting positive qualities whilst combining them with the many challenges life throws at people. Would highly recommend this author and this audible book, which I thought was read well. Discovering a new genre in fiction or music can be really enjoyable.

Heart warming story with lessons for all!
