About this listen

With nowhere to go, no one to help her, will Leigh flee into the arms of the one person she shouldn’t run to? Don’t miss this fifth and final installment in the Casteel family saga from the New York Times bestselling author behind Flowers in the Attic and My Sweet Audrina, now major Lifetime movie events.

Leigh VanVoreen had to escape from Boston’s Farthinggale Manor. The foul secret she harbored within her seemed to darken her life forever. Jillian, her mother, would not believe her, and Tony Tatterton, her stepfather, had betrayed her cruelly.

But the pure devotion of Luke Casteel promised her hope and respect. Only Luke knew her deepest of secrets…only Luke would love and protect her. Bravely she bore the suspicions of the Willies’ hillfolk, as she tried to grasp the happiness that had so long eluded her. Leigh prayed with all her heart that her bright, shining dreams would save her from tragedy at last.

I am trying to persevere with this book because it’s the last me of a great set…. But the whispery voice is so off putting!!!

Great if you can get past the whispering!!

I almost gave up on this book simply because of the narrators voice but since it's the last in the series I put up with it.

The annoying whispering voice is really irritating!

Once you get used to the often whispered voice of the narrator, who I think was just trying to make the main character sound young, the story pulls you in and it is a heartbreaking, yet must listen to for the final story in the Casteel saga. V sad to have got to the end.

Beautiful final book

Story has been ruined by the way the narrator talks as Leigh as a little girl .. the voice is silly and very very child like

Ridiculous voice over

This is one of my favourite series from VC Andrews and I was very excited to own it on Audible...until the narrator started reading that is 😱 I am sound and sensory sensitive and the reader insisted on whispering the story from Leigh's point of view, which was really grating on my nerves after a few minutes! It was so distracting that I had to switch off and discontinue my listening. I could'nt even handle it in small doses. Very disappointing! I want to return the audiobook for my credit back because I doubt that I will be able to get through it without getting the ICK!!!

Unbearable to enjoy!
