About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

The darkly comic, addictive new novel about friendship and envy from the bestselling author of JUST GOT REAL and GETTING RID OF MATTHEW

No one’s secrets are safe…

Kitty thought moving to London would spice up her life. Unfortunately, she ended up on Ashdown Close, where the hottest topic of gossip is a missed bin collection.

That was before the arrival of Sian and Rich at number 8. They are cool and glamorous, and Kitty is perfectly willing to be dazzled by their company.

But when she spots a mysterious woman furtively leaving their house, she realises they might not be the magnetic couple she thought. Aided and abetted by best friend Grace, Kitty feels she needs to investigate.

Do Sian and Richard really have something to hide, or are Kitty and Grace just being nosy neighbours?

And if they are, perhaps they are not the only ones.

Because on this street nobody’s business might just turn out to be everybody’s business . . .

Critic reviews

One of those novels I couldn’t wait to get to every evening. Propulsive, with twists and turns I didn’t see coming, yet warm and good-hearted. I enjoyed it SO much (JENNIE GODFREY)
What a marvellously entertaining writer Jane is. A smart, funny and yet beautifully humane story…I loved being immersed in the world of Kitty and her neighbours. The tangled web of deceit was a knotty one to unwind but I had such a good time doing it (LIZ NUGENT)
A brilliantly twisty drama to curl up with
I LOVED it - deliciously twisty, satisfying fun. I'm always so happy when I'm reading Jane Fallon - I can never begin to guess where she's going, but how I adore coming along for the ride! An absolute pleasure to read (DAISY BUCHANAN)
A hugely enjoyable and totally unpredictable tale of social climbing, curtain-twitching, bed-hopping and scheming. This is Jane Fallon at the top of her game. (ERIN KELLY)

Warm, witty and wise, this wickedly funny tale of betrayal, infidelity, jealousy and friendship had me gasping with surprise till the very satisfying end.
The psychological sands constantly shift as you Agatha-Christie your way through the mischievous twists & delicious turns of this suburban noir fun fest

(KATHY LETTE)

. Have read several of Jane Fallon’s books and like her characters and the humour that’s sprinkled around the plots .Shes a clever writer and uses her observations of people well .I have to say though that I didn’t enjoy this book as much as some of the others.
I thought the ending was rather too long and a bit clumsy. Still an enjoyable and easy listen though .

I loved the story and the anticipation the story line and narrators create. The story made me feel awkward in parts which I love because that means it’s well written and you can actually feel the story.

Really good story
