Narrated by an incredible full cast.

A dark, sexy, and twisted reimagining of The Wizard of Oz from bestselling author Nikki St. Crowe.

No one is safe on the yellow brick road.

Dorothy Gale doesn’t know where she came from. At the age of five, she was dropped on Em and Henry’s doorstep while a terrible storm rolled across the Kansas prairie. Now as an adult, Dorothy has made the most of her life on the farm. But when a cyclone tears through the night, ripping her, her dog, and the farmhouse away, Dorothy wakes to find herself far from home in the strange, cursed land of Oz.

Desperate to find her way back, Dorothy takes the advice of the Witch of the North and sets off on the yellow brick road to find a wizard . . . with a warning to avoid forest monsters, heartless mercenaries, and wicked witches. It isn’t long before Dorothy encounters the dark side of Oz, stumbling on a man beaten and bloody, tied to a pole in a cornfield. Not unlike the scarecrows on the Kansas farm.

With no memories, the mysterious stranger joins Dorothy. Rook is ridiculously handsome, endlessly charming, and somehow understands Dorothy in a way no one ever has. But when they cross paths with the infamous Tinman and his axe, Rook proves he may be hiding his own secrets.

Nothing and no one is what they seem in the cursed land of Oz . . . maybe even Dorothy herself.

Critic reviews

West of Wicked is a sexy, lush adventure that sends the intrepid heroine Dorothy on a dark and twisted journey. With a cast of dangerous and captivating characters, rich worldbuilding, and a fierce heroine that you can't help but root for, this dark retelling is sure to delight fans both new to and familiar with the world of Oz! (Elizabeth Helen, author of the Sunday Times bestselling Beast of the Briar series)
West of Wicked is Nikki St. Crowe at her best. I can always count on her work to be immersive and captivating from the very first page. This dark, sensual reimagining dragged me out of my months-long reading slump, and I never want to leave! (R.L. Caulder, USA Today bestselling author of Where Dreams Fall)
Twisty, propulsive, and oh-so-sexy, this is the grown up Wizard of Oz I never knew I needed. West of the Wicked has it all: morally grey characters you cannot trust (but love anyway), immersive worlds, and brooding heroes who will have you blushing. And that twist!! Absolutely diabolical in the best way (Keshe Chow, Sunday Times bestselling author of Strange Familiars)
West of Wicked is a beautifully written, dark retelling of the Wizard of Oz . . . it was a truly gripping and magical version of a story I adore. The cliffhanger is phenomenal and has made me want book two urgently

This was enjoyable and interesting, I love retellings so like finding out how the author is going to spin it, this was definitely a good start with plenty of twists while still feeling very Wizard of Oz, I decided to listen to this as I love the Devourer series - it didn't captivate me in the same way but I think it's possibly because I'm not quite so invested in the characters yet BUT I do feel this could become as good as it goes along and the story unfolds a little more, so will be listening to the next one as soon as it comes out, the list of narrators also encouraged me to get this book as there are many of my favourite narrators all in one book - I was a little disappointed that with all of them it wasn't done in what is considered the duet or full cast style - but they were still brilliant

Enjoyable start to the series

This multi POV audio was good, lots happened and interesting take on the story of the wizard of Oz but still kept the names and general idea intact. Not overly spicy (Lost Boys being the bench mark!) but the characters developed throughout and they narrators did a really good job. Only negative was I wish it had been in duet style especially with the amazing cast!
It was an easy listen
