About this listen

‘This comforting memoir will help us all feel less alone as we navigate the emotional turmoil of midlife’ Davina McCall, author of Menopausing

From the bestselling author of ‘Mum, What’s Wrong With You?’ comes a witty, compelling, honest and reassuring guide to living a magnificent midlife.

If I was removed from the hurly burly of these overwhelming days, I would be able to patiently and logically think it all through. To untangle this conundrum. I would be able to find the thing I had lost. Probably the most important thing I owned. My identity.

Tackling everything from empty nest, career reinvention, sex, marriage, brain fog, burnout, perimenopause and menopause this laugh out loud memoir is a pathfinder for women whose messy midlife rage caught them by surprise. With advice from experts, celebrities and personal stories, the book will help women feel less alone as they embrace this liberating and transformational new stage of life.

I loved this book, I could relate to it all and it came at just the right time. That peri menopause time of life when you think you are losing your mind and your identity.
This wonderfully written heartfelt and humorous book made me realise, I’m not alone and this stage of life is normal. It’s a stage to go through, it doesn’t last forever and with the right education, understanding and compassion we can come out the other side, stronger, wiser and feel more like ourselves than ever before.
This book brings hope in the tumultuous time of mid life.
Thank you Lorraine.

A great balance between all the stages of midlife not just menopause and I have pocketed the phrase ‘weaponised incompetence’ !!! But it’s not a bloke hating rant …it’s a balanced and ultimately positive lens on this very peculiar and discombobulating time of change …I feel like I’ve got a new friend and shall be getting the paperback so I can stuff it in my non-underwires bra and be nurtured whenever and wherever I need it … yes it’s that important ! Thank you Lorraine

I needed this, absolutely revelatory, a mind-hug
