This book is more than a children's book. It is written for children but will benefit adult listeners. This book is about a young girl and her brother, who has mental retardation. This story focuses on her struggle to accept his difference.

Throughout the story, Willena, the main character, is often asked what is wrong with her brother. She is in the fifth grade, and her younger brother, Sam, attends the same elementary school with her.

She loves her brother but wishes everyone would see Sam as she does. In the beginning of the story, Willena is at times ashamed of her brother. At the story's conclusion, she understands that Sam has mental retardation, and that should not change her love for him.

At times in our society, individuals are afraid of what they don't understand. This children's book teaches and emphasizes the importance and difference, as well as provides an approach for helping children understand mental retardation. Also, mental retardation affects every individual in the family.
