The decisions a lot of the characters made were extremely unrealistic, which let down the story. For ex, John trusting his untrustworthy son to find all of them a new place to live, knowing that every decision he's made in the past has been life changingly bad. There's no way Tommy's sister would agree to the T&C's of the camp either.
