This is about a magic 8 ball of such huge power I can’t even imagine!
I didn’t want to stop listening when I got to the end of my 1st work day & has to wait until the next day to finish it.
Absolute mind blowing story. How could he, why did he, but what would you do. Got me thinking and wondering.

Will is an amusing paranormal horror written in the first person from the perspective of a middle aged advertising executive whose desk in the office looked at the lavatory door all day. He is bored, disillusioned, but delighted to find a bookshop he'd not seen befkre. Inside, he discovers a book that he wanted, and rediscovered a childhood memory in the form of a Magic 8 ball, a question and answer toy he had treasured in his you. 'Should I buy you?' he asked it. The ball answered yes! From that moment, his life begins to change.

The story is well constructed and enjoyable, with a similarity to the popular 1970's book, The Dice Man, by Luke Rhinehart. Are there such toys as the Magic 8 ball in the real world? Doesn't matter: they seem very plausible. The main character is well developed and is well portrayed by narrator, Tyler McGuire, whose rich, despite voice was pleasant to hear. His pacing was excellent, and he read with understanding and good intonation, also giving reasonably differentiated voicings to all of the protagonists. Some pronunciations were odd, though, with dingy read as dinggy, for example, but these were infrequent.

Overall, this was a most enjoyable book, a little predictable but still sinister, especially as it moves towards the conclusion. It is an haunting story, of the type which remains with the reader, just on the edges of possibility. My thanks to the rights holder of Will, who, at my request via Audiobook Boom, freely gifted me with a complimentary copy. A good read, and recommended.
And what a stunning cover in it's elegant simplicity.

Outlook not good.
