An ancient evil emerges. The Glass Kingdom is at war. Not even the gods can help now.

Full-scale rebellion rages in the south, and Sir Torsten Unger must lead the Glass Army to face it. But when a new and unfamiliar king forces Torsten to march alongside one of his fiercest rivals, he must draw on his faith to keep the army from fracturing.

Whitney Fierstown continues his tutelage of the blood mage, Sora, who is desperate to get a better handle on her mysterious powers. Their journey brings them to the merchant city of Winde Port, where they seek passage to Yaolin City aboard a ship. It's smooth sailing until they realize an old nemesis is hunting them, hell-bent on vengeance and willing to turn to an evil unlike any they've ever faced before.

Winds of War is the epic second installment in the Buried Goddess Saga, perfect for fans of R. A. Salvatore, Brandon Sanderson, and Nicholas Eames.

Worthy successor to the book 1, as this time round Whitney has to escape an old enemy and the trials of Torsen become even harder this time as he has to face an army from the sand.
The action in this ,I thought was more suited to the personalities. And this is just a little more ingratiated than the previous book.
Best of all the sardonic humour comes alive and even Redstars narration doesn't grate as much as it did in book 1.
This has went from strength to strength and I hope the next in the series also performs just as well.
Narration i found was as expected and well done by LD as this is a lot easier to listen to compared to the first as the accents are a little less folksy.
Proof that you can also done good job without going over the top or you get used to it given enough exposure.

Worthy 2nd story

I absolutely love this series. It's got everything, a great plot, interesting characters and most of all it is funny. I will be continuing on this series.

Just as good as the first

Firstly, this is a direct sequel to book one and you should read or listen to that one first as it is well worth it and you will then appreciate this one much more as well.

Our three protagonists spend quite a bit of time being out of their depth in this book as the overall situation for the world has escalated quite a lot since book one, albeit the self-confidence of Whitney will rarely allow him to admit such a thing even to himself despite the new and returning enemies they have to face this time round.

I am not sure if the narrator is having fun with these books or not, but he certainly sounds like he is with some accents continuing to be a little outlandish at times, although thankfully he has either toned down the one he uses for Whitney or I have become acclimatised to it by now as that one no longer grates. I do still wish they would drop the reading of the chapter tags that signify who is going to be the focus of it, they are totally unnecessary with the performance and needlessly detract from it in the process.

Overall, this is a quality second book in the series that nicely builds on the good start of the first one and further encourages me to want to move onto the subsequent books in the series too.

Strong sequel and still more strong accents

This second story builds nicely from the first and even though you could read it as a standalone story I would recommend reading/listening to the first before this as it will make it more rewarding. The interactions between the characters works well and had me laughing several times.

Luke Daniels is one of my favorite narrators and does another great job here even with some of the stronger accents.

Overall I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to the next

Please note that I was given a free copy of this audiobook to provide a non-biased review.

A great sequel!

I really enjoyed this second book, we are introduced to more characters and the prospective expands to them along with the knight and thief. I like the multi view, it doesn't get confusing. really well written story and narrative is excellent, each character is easily recognised.
can't recommend it enough. 5**
