About this listen

A murder at her own engagement party. A missing familiar with secrets to spill. And a witch-vet who never asked to be a sleuth—again.

Dr. Willow Morgan just wanted to celebrate her engagement, not find a body in her father’s old workshop. But when Esme Darnell—her aunt’s estranged friend and a secretive magical herbalist—turns up dead under suspicious circumstances, Willow’s special brand of trouble begins all over again. The magical community is buzzing, the protection charms are on high alert, and someone’s clearly willing to kill for something.

Now, with her talkative border collie, her two best friends, and her chaotic new sister in tow, Willow will need to juggle running two veterinary clinics, fending off a shady businessman, and tracking down a rogue familiar… all while planning a wedding. If the killer doesn’t get to her first.

Perfect for fans of talking animals, charming small towns, cozy mysteries with heart, and witches who’d rather stay out of trouble—but never quite do.

The intrusive add-ons are truly not needed. I like reading because it uses my own interpretation of a story, and I expect that from an audio version. I hope the producers take note, stick to good narration and save your sounds effects for radio plays. Otherwise I find the storyline okay.

The awful sound effects

Sounds like a high school student got Let Loose with a 1990s keyboard with some random sound effects.

They are not only jarring but really poor effects at seemingly random intermissions and they make the listening experience very unpleasant.
