Is your relationship the most important thing in your life? Are you constantly thinking and talking about your partner, or finding excuses for their bad behaviour?

If you have ever found yourself obsessing over an undeserving partner, this book was written for you. Many women are repeatedly drawn into unhappy and destructive relationships, and then struggle to make these doomed relationships work. This is a good read for anyone with a history of bad relationships or addiction troubles. It gives insight into the ways women can compromise too much in pursuit of love, forgive too easily and abandon their own needs. But, I think it missed out the part of these relationships where the men just didn’t give enough. They weren’t loved enough and in the right way. The book could’ve gave more insight into why this is, and the hold the patriarchy has over shaping these dynamics. Not every woman who loves “too much” has had bad life experiences or been raised poorly. Sometimes it is just the nature of social conditioning and the way girls are taught to be too kind, too polite, too accommodating which can mean sacrificing one’s self for the love of another. And it cannot be understated that men in particular aren’t taught how to healthily feel their emotions without taking them out on women.

Good, but patriarchy needed a mention!
