About this listen

In Ponderosa Springs, this version of Romeo and Juliet isn’t a tragedy. It’s war.

Jude Sinclair is West Trinity Falls’ favorite exiled loner.

Cocky. Insufferably hot. Family foe.

Raised across the tracks in a rival town, he reeks of trouble. Which is the one thing I’ve always had a problem avoiding and now that he’s just down the hall, it’s harder to resist the pull.

My father made one rule when Jude moved in, never trust a Sinclair.

The last thing I need is for my new foster brother to make me question my loyalty with his filthy smirks and poet tongue. But with every forbidden kiss and secret hookup, I quickly find myself faced with two options.

Betray my family? Or betray my heart?

This is my First Monty Jay book and I was impressed by her storytelling, her words sound like poetry at times.
So I haven't listened or read the books before this one, because this is next generation characters..But to be honest it doesn't matter if you haven't experienced their parents book, but it does make me curious about them.
I was lucky enough to listen to the audiobook of Wrath of an Exile,I really enjoyed the narrators of Michelle Sparks and Liam Dicosimo..They portrayed the characters so well, and would put on accents etc if necessary and expressed every emotion perfectly. They made a great duo.
This is Seraphina Van Doren aka Phi and Jude Sinclair's romance..I have no idea why I say romance because in the beginning they really hate eachother.
Their story and background is a complicated mess..phi is from a wealthy family her father is a judge, she was adopted by him and his wife and she is strong, determined, reckless and a rebel.
Something happened to her 4 years ago and since that moment she was changed forever, its like she just doesn't care anymore. She is guarded and is trying to protect herself, she has a reputation of being a Vixen.
Jude Sinclair is a bad boy his family name Sinclair has a bad reputation in the town and nobody likes them or trusts them. His father was an addict and he used to take his anger out on Jude, when his father passes away Jude thinks he can finally leave the town...but he is wrong.
In his Will any money Jude will recieve can only be claimed when he is 21 and he is under the custody of Sage who is Phi's mother.
So you can imagine what it will be like as Jude and Phi have to live together,Jude went to jail for something he didn't do and it is linked to Phi.
They are hating one another under false pretences because what they thought was true about one another isn't what it seems.
Their attraction is potent and they simply cannot stay away from one another and with every passionate encounter they experience..they begin to fall in love and discover the truth.
Now I did enjoy this book don't get me wrong and I am looking forward to the other books in this series. But at times I became a bit frustrated of them hating on one another for too long, and it became tedious and predictable. But honestly the story is a good one and I know any Young Adult angsty reader fans will eat this book up.
Phi's group of friends are great they are all close and supportive and I know their books will be intriguing.
There are some uncomfortable subjects that are highlighted in this book so sensitive readers and listeners should heed the trigger warnings.
I am excited to listen to more of Monty Jay's books and I am very curious of what is in store for the next Penderosa Springs guy and girls romance.
This is a steamy, dark, suspensful, emotional romance..and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it.

Monty Jay delivers an intense enemies-to-lovers romance that grabbed me from the first page. The foster-sibling tension, bad-boy vs bad-girl dynamic, and a Romeo & Juliet-esque setup give the story an irresistible edge.

The duet narration by Michelle Sparks and Liam DiCosimo is phenomenal. Michelle brings fiery emotion to Phi, while Liam’s voice as Jude is achingly authentic and magnetic.

Jay’s prose is raw and poetic, pulling you into the emotional whirlwind of these deeply flawed, compelling characters. Even though it's part of a second-generation series, I jumped in without reading the first and felt fully immersed - though now I can’t wait to go back and explore that world.

The narrator’s did a PHENOMENAL job. They perfected Jude & Phi SO WELL. Ugh… it was perfection. The angst and emotion was ten fold, the spice was off the charts and wow did I have the best time listening to them! Thjs wasnt my first rodeo with Wrath of an exile, but boy did this audio make me love their story even more. It was just everything!!

I am unwell all over again.

I’m completely and utterly obsessed with this world, and next gen HIT. Monty started the River Styx series off with an absolute bang, Jude & Phi’s story was absolutely everything and more. I ate up every single word, page… chapter.

Listening to Rook & Sage as parents was everything, I shed many many tears. The love they poured into their children melted my little heart, and it was such an emotional read.

Hearing about all the Hollow Boys & their wives, children….. was so emotional. It felt like they’d all come full circle, I absolutely adored getting to know all their children, and how they’re all so intertwined in their life as parents, as friends, as family.

Jude & Phi were absolutely EVERYTHING. Their intense angst towards eachother was unreal, and I could feel it off page. Both so broken, yet so perfect for eachother. Some of their scenes were just wow… rent free. Their nicknames…. Ugh.. I can’t deal. These two shared such a strong connection, I could almost feel their chemistry. I just love them. So so much.

This has been a highly anticipated listen and the audio HIT, and let me tell you it far exceeded all expectations, and some. This amazing little world Monty has created, will forever be etched into my heart.

To the Styx……..

Amazing!

The romance was on FIRE like what do you mean you're going to make out with your arch nemesis while he's holding you up by your hair over the ocean in an abandoned lighthouse????
The danger of it was absolutely THRILLING! Also it's a dark Romeo and Juliet retelling which should convince you with just that info alone !!

Loved it 🥰

Everything that Seraphina has endured has changed who she is and rather than getting support from those who would want to be there for her instead she has chosen to distance herself. She thought her home life was difficult enough, but it is about to get more complicated when Jude moves in and she knows that her parents don’t want her to have anything to do with him.

Even though he is estranged from his father that doesn’t mean that people can look past his father’s actions and see Jude for the person he is. Jude doesn’t allow many people close but there is something about Phi that draws him in, and he is determined to uncover all her secrets and help her heal.

This is an angst filled story about two people who carry the emotional scars of their past. They develop feelings for each other in spite of themselves and they face tumultuous decisions that will change life as they know it. Michelle Sparks brought out all the conflict that Seraphina was feeling while Liam Dicosimo brings out the both the passion and possessiveness of Jude.

Seraphina and Jude!
