About this listen

A Love Letter to Whiskey meets Cast Away in a unforgettable, heart wrenching novel about Ellie and Nate, soulmates driving apart by circumstance, brought back together by fate, as they must unravel their past while relying on each other to survive in the present.

Fate is a fickle thing.

When Nate meets Ellie during his senior year of high school, he believes they are fated to love each other through their most challenging moments. With dreams of escaping their abusive homes, they plan to leave their past behind and start a new, happier life together.

Fate is unpredictable.

Not every story has a happy ending, and not every love is meant to survive, and finally Nate and Ellie face one storm their relationship is unable to survive. And so they go their own ways, never to see each other again, until...

Eight years later, Nate is engaged to Ellie's sister. After being tasked with retrieving her wedding dress, the two take off on a trip to Brazil.

Fate is uncontrollable.

But when their plane goes down in the Amazon, the two must fight to survive in the jungle, while unraveling the events of their past and exposing the truths that could tear them apart.

Fate brought them together. And fate tore them apart. Will fate give them a second chance at love?

Sometimes your second chance is also your goodbye.

Loved the story, the writing, the plot, characters, character development, tension, the narrators gave an outstanding performance, adding emotional depth and strong character portrayal .. i thoroughly enjoyed it all .. but the last 7 pages! Why?
It's made me feel a certain way .. I have so many thoughts and feelings regarding the last 7 pages that right now, I can't portray how I felt about the book as a whole.

It is emotionally charged, but not a tear inducing book for me .. yes it's sad but I'm leaning more towards frustration with the ending .. it didnt make me cry, its made me a little annoyed.

I don't feel the last 7 pages were necessary and honestly, it's upset me that it took that direction, effectively reducing my love for the book - albeit minorly .. I wish I hadn't read those pages to be honest 😔

I feel that any resentment Katie holds is justified. Really interested in reading her story and how she overcomes the cards she was dealt and finding the love she truly deserves.

loved it but...
