I'd never listened to any of the X-1 broadcasts before, but I bought a bunch of them to listen to while travelling on holiday: only 45p each, what a bargain. You have to be ready for vintage Americana. It's all very 1950's: a bit clonky, with plenty of shouty men who are supposed to be sharp high-achievers but who seem remarkably slow on the uptake. Thankfully there's a whiff of humour. It's fun to listen to but the main thing letting it down is that the whole series (except for one episode) only seems to have one plot-line. Not a problem if you only want to listen to one or two of them.
