About this listen

Book 1 in the Eisenhorn series

Inquisitor Eisenhorn faces a vast interstellar cabal and the dark power of daemons, all racing to recover an arcane text of abominable power - an ancient tome known as the Necroteuch.

Listen to It Because:

The classic novel returns in a brand new edition. Inquisitor Eisenhorn gathers allies to unravel a conspiracy and hunt an alien threat. Relive the adventures of some of Warhammer 40,000's most beloved characters, or experience the beginning of Eisenhorn's remarkable adventures for the first time.

The Story:

The Inquisition moves amongst mankind like an avenging shadow, striking down the enemies of humanity with uncompromising ruthlessness. When he finally corners an old foe, Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn is drawn into a sinister conspiracy. As events unfold and he gathers allies - and enemies - Eisenhorn faces a vast interstellar cabal and the dark power of daemons, all racing to recover an arcane text of abominable power: an ancient tome known as the Necroteuch.

Abnett demonstrates why he will always be the most respected warhammer author. All the extreme violence aside Abnett excels at painting rich and fascinatingly detailed worlds and that's exactly what you get along with engrossing characters and an exciting plot. Can't wait for number 2.

Exciting and well developed sf classic

Admitidly I've not read much 40k but this was one of the first I got into based on how much hype it had. for me personally it was a bit of a slog. I will probably revisit it again after I've finished the next two in the series but over all I don't think it warrented the hype it was given just my thoughts narration was good however just the story its self left me confused and hard to follow.

Not bad but not the greatest

This is written from a 40k fan perspective.

I've been in the 40k hobby for 20+ years and have been a fan of Mr Abnett for the past 10. I've been busy with the HH series and have not had time for the Eisenhorn series until now.

Written true eyes of a young Eisenhorn as he chases heretics over the imperial star system. If you know Abnett, you know what you're getting. A well-written novel that never gets boring and you always want to hear more. I'm not going to tell what's it's about but you will explore the Inquisitorial hierarchy, touch the political game between the ruling familys, unknown aliens, and alot of thrilling action!

Toby Longworth is well articulated and easy to follow. English is not my first language and for me the narrator is a make it or break it deal.

If you know the 40k you will love this, If you are uknown to the warhammer 40.000 universe but like Sci-Fi you will problaby love it too!

40k at it's best!
