Summary

After years of her husband's cheating and scandals, Helene, the Countess Godwin, decides it's time for a change. She puts on a shockingly transparent gown and goes to a ball like Cinderella, hoping to find a Prince Charming to sweep her off her feet...and into his bed.

But instead she finds only her own volatile, infuriatingly handsome husband, Rees, the Earl Godwin. Rees now makes her a brazen offer, and Helene decides to be very, very wicked indeed.

The slowly growing attraction and love between wife and husband. A bit too many people involved, but that might be because I am not a born English speaker.

Not sure where to start with these stories.
Men of the era are presented as feckless and easily manipulated.
The society is fickle and many of the women have little to do except go round gossiping and “ruining” others.
The series of stories in the quartet focus on women going out of their way to “get their man” or be respectable, but acting rather less respectably behind closed doors.
It’s unfathomable that a woman would move back into her marital home and agree to live in it alongside said husband’s mistress.
Even more unbelievable is a vicar marrying his brother’s ex-mistress.
I wasn’t convinced and found vast portions of all the stories in the series tedious
