毎年7月24日・25日には大阪を代表する天神祭が開催されます。
24日の宵宮祭におこなわれる鉾流神事ではここから神鉾(かみほこ)が
流されます。元来は神鉾が流れ着いた場所を御旅所とし、
そこで神事が執り行われたのち神霊を迎えたのが船渡御(船行列)でした。
現在の御旅所(行宮)は西区千代崎にあります。
