Summary

Moorland Cottage is a touching Victorian novel about Maggie Brown, a self-sacrificing woman torn between duty to her selfish brother and her own desires for love and independence. With elements of romance, family drama, and societal expectations, Gaskell delivers a poignant story of resilience and self-worth.

This is a wonderful book and a good story. However, several of the narrators did not read well or do the story and the author justice. To put it bluntly, one or two were appalling and should not be asked to narrate any audio book in the future.
Several others were great.
I also wish to point out that narrators should make the effort to find out the correct pronunciation of vocabulary and local place names: the version of the Welsh place names was all but unrecognisable.
Pleased do not ruin any further wonderful classics by such poor narration.
I'm sorry to be so critical and have never before submitted such a negative review before. I hope I will never have to do so again.

A great story but spoilt by several poor narrators.
