Preserving information for the future and gardening are two of Gareth West’s passions. Our hosts talk with Gareth about the importance of Tūhura’s Archives Project which the Association of Friends has supported with funding and volunteers. Archives are an important part of the museum’s collections. They help discover the past and protect documentation for further use. Tūhura’s archives include last century’s correspondence between museum director H. D. Skinner and museums around the world during a time of active collecting and trading. Have a listen as Gareth describes archival processes, use of materials by researchers and the future of the project, giving listeners a look into a world many know little about.
