Summary

In this episode, I’m talking about identity and how it’s shifted for me as I've gone back to work and what it means to find myself beyond motherhood. Lately, I’ve been feeling the contrast between the confidence and contentment I found during matrescence, and the self-doubt that’s come with stepping back into my family business where I no longer feel like the expert.

I share some personal moments that have really highlighted this for me including a pretty confronting experience at a climbing class where I felt completely out of my depth. These experiences have made me reflect on how uncomfortable growth can be, and how easily my inner critic jumps in when I’m in unfamiliar territory.

I also talk about how the mental and physical load of parenting can make all of this feel even harder, and how our brain’s negativity bias can convince us we don’t belong when we’re actually just learning. This episode is a bit of a brain dump, but also a reminder (for you and for me) that it’s okay to be in the messy middle of figuring out who you are.
