About this listen

The Bible Bard examines what the literature of the Bible says about who is God and who are human beings. The Bible Bard is a public service presenting Bible literature to an audience that has never heard what this book actually says. The Bible texts that I’m reading out are so clear that regardless of translation, they all say the same thing! The Bible Bard is not trying to convert listeners to a religion. The thoughts presented are in fact what the Bible itself actually says - you decide whether you agree or not. This podcast is for you if you are merely curious about what this wonderful collection of books, stories, and statements actually says. This podcast is for you if you do not have the time or it is even dangerous for you to possess and read all 31,102 verses in the Bible and sift among them for the key thoughts about God or the human race that you are interested in. This is the way the Bible Bard works. Brief recitations, closely focused, no distractions, no rabbit trails. Send the Bible Bard any questions or remarks you care to offer to BibleBardUS@gmail.com. Glad to hear from you. Go to www.BibleBard.org to see the archive of podcast topics. The podcast is published in eight (8) languages including English, Bengali, Chichewa, Hindi, Spanish, Swahili, and Urdu, with three (3) more languages in development: Creole, Nepali, and Telugu. • Faith and Reason in the Bible, Part 2
    Apr 1 2026

Here is the place we are at today. In YouTube, BB-140 Faith and Reason in Abraham (in Apple) we looked at how faith transcends belief and becomes knowledge in Abraham’s relationship with God. Regarding faith the text says God speaks to Abraham and says in Genesis 15:5,

“‘Look up at the sky and count the stars … so shall your offspring be.’ Abraham believed the Lord, and he (God) credited it to him (Abraham) as righteousness.”

When God promises Abraham to give him the land he was living in and …

“… to take possession of it...” Abram says, ‘Sovereign Lord, how can I know that I will gain possession of it?” Genesis 15: 8

To certify to Abraham his future possession of the land God performs a bronze age contract act that engages a legal agreement going beyond his verbal promise. The legal agreement provides the basis so Abraham can know he will get ownership of the land.

  • A Moral Pagan vs. a Fearful Prophet
    Mar 25 2026

Bible Bard podcast episode BB-142_A Moral Pagan vs. a Fearful Prophet. As we saw in BB_Lesson_140_Faith and Reason in Abraham, God has made an unconditional covenant with Abraham to give him heirs (although he is childless at this point) and to give him a homeland (although he is a wandering Bedouin at this point). Now, in Genesis Chapter 20, Abraham, the covenant bearer, meets a pagan king. But in the narrative, while Abraham acts deceptively, Abimelek, the pagan king, acts with moral clarity and restraint.
