Because while the book community often talks about the decline of literacy, very few conversations actually define what literary literacy is, or how to develop it. This series is designed to change that. In this season, we break down ACOSF through an academic lens, using our combined 13 years of literary training to analyze Nesta Archeron’s character arc, Cassian and Nesta’s relationship, and the deeper themes driving Sarah J. Maas’s storytelling. We explore key elements of the novel, including symbolism, metaphor, imagery, and character development, while examining major A Court of Silver Flames themes like trauma, healing, power, and transformation within the ACOTAR series. Spoilers: This episode contains full spoilers for A Court of Silver Flames, the entire ACOTAR series (A Court of Thorns and Roses, A Court of Mist and Fury, A Court of Wings and Ruin, and Frost and Starlight). Chapters Summary: Nesta fights her new routine at every turn. Refusing to eat and train, she uses her words like knives to show her displeasure, especially with Cassian, whose patience starts to crack under the constant rejection. At Windhaven, Nesta humiliates the general in front of his fellow Illyrians as she drowns in hauntings from the Cauldron and her father’s death. Meanwhile, Cassian is forced into political games with Eris and the Band of Exiles, leaving him feeling outmatched and raw.
