In Parnell Park, despite having a narrow advantage on 45 minutes Carlow were eventually beaten by Louth who go on to play Fermanagh in the All-Ireland JFC final in Croke Park.
Back home the senior hurling championship is one game away from the semi-final stage. Pat Ahern was at the fourth round games and was in Dublin on Sunday to witness Carlow's disappointing day.
