    n January 1992, the small town of Madison, Indiana, was rocked by a crime so brutal, so unfathomable, it grabbed headlines across the globe. Shanda Sharer was only 12 years old—a bright, vibrant girl with her whole life ahead of her—when she became the target of a horrific plot orchestrated not by hardened criminals, but by four teenage girls.


    The catalyst for this unthinkable tragedy was a toxic web of teenage obsession, intense jealousy, and peer manipulation. 16-year-old Melinda Loveless became fiercely fixated on a 15-year-old girl named Amanda Heavrin. When 12-year-old Shanda Sharer briefly dated Amanda, Loveless’s jealousy spiraled into a dangerous obsession. Driven by a desire for revenge over what she perceived as a stolen relationship, Loveless convinced three other local teenagers—Laurie Tackett (17), Hope Rippey (15), and Toni Lawrence (15)—to help her exact a terrifying revenge. Tragically, Tackett, Rippey, and Lawrence had never even met Shanda before the night of the crime. On the night of January 10, 1992, the group lured Shanda from her father’s home in Jeffersonville, Indiana, by falsely claiming they were taking her to see Amanda. Once Shanda was inside the vehicle, the situation escalated into a nightmare. Loveless brandished a knife, and the group held Shanda captive as they drove to a remote, abandoned property known locally as "The Witch’s Castle" in Madison. Over the next twelve hours, Shanda was subjected to a horrific ordeal. She was severely beaten, choked, and stabbed by her captors. Despite Shanda's desperate pleas for her life, the teenagers locked her in the trunk of the car. The crime reached a final, incomprehensible level of brutality when they drove her to a secluded field, stabbed her again, doused her in gasoline, and burned her alive. Her body was discovered by hunters the following morning.

    In 2017, the Holston family who consisted of 25-year-old Stacey Holston, her husband Todd Holston, and their two sons, 8 year-old Devon and 2 year-old Braxton lived in a home on State route 93 in Pedro, Ohio. The family moved to this neighborhood to be closer to Stacey's family since most of them lived in this neighborhood or close by. It was here that Stacey struck up a romantic affair with her first cousin, 24-year-old Arron Lawson who also lived nearby.
    On October 6, 2017, however, Stacey broke off the affair with Arron because she did not want Todd to find out from anyone else but her, and she wanted her normal home life back. Arron was devastated by this and concocted a plan to kill Stacey and her family. On October 11th, Arron snuck into the Holston home after Todd left for work and waited for four hours until Stacey sent Devon off to school and entered the back bedroom. There he shot and killed Stacey with a shotgun, and did the same to Devon when he returned home from school. Since Todd had not heard from his wife all day, he phoned her parents, Tammie and Donald McGuire to check on her, but unfortunately, when Tammie entered the home, she was met by Arron and was shot and killed, as well. Then, Donald was sent to check and met the same fate.
    When Todd arrived home that night, he was also met by Arron and brutally stabbed in the head, neck, and chest but survived the attack and was able to call for help. Arron was apprehended 2 days later and has been sentenced to four death sentences plus an additional 59 years.

    On the night of May 22, 2019, police were alerted to an apartment lived in by 35-year-old Wade Allen on North Maple Street in Sturgis, Michigan. A report came in about Wade storing his girlfriend's body in his apartment. As police searched the apartment, Wade grew increasingly uncooperative, especially when officers asked to look inside a large cooler sitting in his living room. When officers finally gained access, they discovered the dismembered remains of 42-year-old Kelly Jein "KJ" Warner.
    Wade asserted Kelly had died after a brain injury she sustained while making cereal and fainting in the kitchen, but the truth of KJ's brutal torture and murder came out when Wade bragged to his cellmates in prison about what he actually did to KJ.
