About this listen

A 10-year-old girl sees a psychologist in the aftermath of her father’s drowning, amid concerns about her behaviour and refusal to confront her grief. This is a heart-breaking story about trauma, bereavement and failing relationships, and an exploration of a child’s desperate attempt to achieve agency in her life.

it seems currently fashionable to promote short stories that don't have a narrative arc but simply promote a feeling by the use of lots of interesting adjectives. This story is about a traumatised 10 year old girl who has to visit a psychoanalyst because her father has drowned. We get a description of her experience of her trauma which is fairly unremarkable in the circumstances and not much else. The narrator has a slight Japenese accent and parts of words seemed to be chopped off in the recording.
