In 1876, the phone was invented and at a stroke we could speak to people who were many miles away from us, many of whom we’d deliberately moved away from so as not to be able to speak with them.
In 1973, the Mobile phone was invented and now the people we didn’t want to hear from could contact us in anywhere in the world, at any time.
Perhaps that’s why Rick and Griff hate them so much.
In this episode we’ll hear about the genesis of the phone from Bakelite monsters to Carphones and pointless Apps.
