This should have been an interesting podcast, but I had to stop listening halfway through as the narrator was becoming tedious
Probably just his style but to me he sounded as bored as I was getting

The unsolved murder of Ellroy’s mother in the late ‘50s was a formative influence on his life and writing. He wrote about it in My Dark Places, which was also a memoir (and well worth a read). This is a good distillation. Ellroy sounds, as usual, fairly unhinged. The production is a bit odd; at times Ellroy sounds like he’s in a cupboard as he speaks. There’s piano music in the background; overall it’s a noir-ish vibe. I liked it — and I’m keen to hear more in the series.

The stories are interesting and I would have loved to keep listening, but after 5 episodes, I finally give up. The droning voice is driving me crazy! Every sentence sounds like a sound clip. Why does it have to be read in such a monotone?
