Hello there sods

So after dragging my patreon subscribers through a pretty tough mental health moment with me a couple of weeks ago, I have been trying to piece myself together and get podding in the wild again after a very tough winter.

Tbh I was not quite sure where the ole Finding Nico spirit was going to start to flourish again, but then the time came for me to jump in Linda and head down to Tavistock in Devon, and then Southampton for double-gig weekender supporting Oasis Supernova.

It's the third time I have done this pilgrimage and as soon as I set off my nervous system knew we were doing something we knew we were going to enjoy. Which is pretty good stuff after weeks of rumination or anxiety. As you will hear my winter of discontent began to fall away and then the gigs themselves were a powerful reminder of what it feels like to be the proper you, doing something you love and reminding you you have stuff in your locker to be proud of. 1865 club in Southampton now holds two very special memories for me and has given me a thirst for many more musical experiences. Something my brain was not capable of just a few short weeks ago.

Thank you all for your patience with me the last few months. There's life in the old dog yet.

One of the hats I am wearing as I figure out how to survive in the cruel hinterland of my TV writer comedy heyday is that of 'Music Dad'. A badge and idea that has become very dear to me as I submerge myself into the grass roots music scenes of Brighton and beyond, anbout 30 years later than you are supposed to.

Ronnie, as you will hear, actually played a key part in me daring to start fraternising with musicians again as a middle aged old fool.

I recorded our chat last week in the Lion and Lobster in Brighton. Have been meaning to get Ronnie on for ages but we could never get the timing right and then BOSH, there he was already not shutting up at any point for over three hours. Taste of my own medicine without a doubt.

He's got a story or two has Ronnie. Enjoy.

Hey my angels

Summer has well and truly gone but I still have a few weeks to go until I move into a rented room for the winter. Last week I decided to set off slowly from Brighton to Manchester. I stopped in London to see friends, then swung by St Albans where I stocked up on van snacks in the Iceland in The Range (classy).

I decided to stop halfway, just outside Leicester for a pub scran and kipped in the carpark as the pub was on 'Search for Sites', an app that is super useful for vanlifers, caravan owners etc that shows you lots of places you can legally stay overnight.

You simply check out the map and tap on the suggested campsites, laybys, pubs and caravan sites to see what they have to offer.

I got in the poddy mood as I was on the road, had a little giggle at a sticky toilet floor and then chilled in Linda before bed which is where most of this ep is recorded.

And as usual, I slept like a baby.

Hullo there my loves

This week I found myself parked up near Basildon where I am helping to cut back and old lady's front garden (Stop it) for one of my lovely Patrons. I will kind of do anything for cash at this point, and it's actually becoming quite liberating.

My head has been quite messy lately but on Monday night I suddenly got the urge to catch talk so you can now catch up on all my Linda based misadventures.

I will be safely indoors in an Air BnB in a few weeks so this summers mission of house-sitting and van-lifing will soon be at an end. Though my plans for Linda and me are really only just getting started now I know how to handle being inside her (stop it) for days and weeks at a time.

Anyway, if you are new here know this. I have no f*cking idea how I am supposed to survive the next few years but I am going to bloody keep cracking on until I figure it out....

I hope you enjoy this rather open and honest episode of the newly christened Finding Nico.....

Hey there me Stupid Hearties!

Here is the latest instalment of the adventures of me and Linda the camper van on the road. I did a house-sit in Frome for my cousin and looked after a dog that looks like Mike Tyson. It was quite something. Another update is coming up soon on me busking for coins to eat food with. It's been a bit of a week to be honest and I am firmly in squeaky bum time but all is not lost.

The Wild Lunch finally launches over the next week, so look out for that on my insta @stupidheartsclub and help uncle Daddy spread the word by listening liking and sharing! You will be helping me secure a brand deal so we didn't do all our work for free. I also have a cool episode of Music Dad coming for you featuring 'Crimson', a young Brighton band who have stolen my heart with their innocent banging tunes.

Hey there my Stupid Hearted Angels

We are fast approaching the end of Lindas Hot Summer. As I write this she is on my cousins driveway in Frome, Somerset snoring while I dog, cat and house sit for my cousin 'Our Lawrence'. I think I'll do an episode on Frome, as I am going to busk here too before I leave.

Meanwhile the ep I just dropped is a beaut I think. It's one made of bits of field audio and linking bits done afterwards. I like doing it this way but it does take longer to get round to the edit cos it's much more tricky. So sorry you had to wait for this one, I think you'll find it was worth the wait when you hear how my recent trip to Guernsey to play a gig went.

It certainly takes a bit of a detour when I arrive on the Isle of Sark, and I am super glad that I captured some of that stuff in the moment cos it is megalols.

A big thanks for Charles Sherbourne for enticing me over there. And for my tour of the Island. I will be back in Linda for sure.

Hello you lot

I am talking to friend and fellow exhausted comedy-writer Alistair Griggs.

If you have been following me a long time you will know that Griggs and I like to have quite, dark, explorative and sometimes bleak conversations. This one took place whilst sitting in the rather glorious gardens of a North London flat I was looking after while some other pals were away. Linda had a nice rest and I actually missed her.

As a rule, Griggs doesn't usually connect with nature, or sentiment or, well anything at all really, as you will hear. But i believe something wonderful happened here and as the chat progressed he grudgingly accepted, ever so briefly, just a sliver of light.

Hey there my Stupid Hearted angels.

Here is another installment of my very weird summer of house-sitting, slumming it in Linda and crossing my fingers for my house to get sold. This episode was recorded while I was on a flat-sit in London, and I write these notes, having been in the van for another week after that stint ended, sitting in yet another friends home while they are in Sri-Lanka. it's a nice gaff this. Each time it is the kitchen and khazi that I am most grateful for.

But this family are lols and its just as cool here when they are home.

This episode sees me getting a bit wistful about internet chest-beating and online arguing, as well as just shitting on about the van and my techniques for getting through the rough times. I hope it is of some use to someone. We need to stick together kids.

Anyway- Enjoyyyyyy and btw next ep is with none other than Mr Alistair Griggs and is pretty fricking funny in my opinion....
