How Military Bonds Are Built, Tested, and Rebuilt After Service

This week on Four Titles, One Truth, we’re joined by our brother and first non-spouse guest — SGM (Ret.) Sean Parrish, Class 67 “Lead, Learn, Inspire.”

In this powerful conversation, we break down what brotherhood really means — before the Army, inside the uniform, and long after retirement.

Together, Tommie, Lance, and Sean dig into:

•How early life shaped their idea of “brothers”

•How military culture redefined loyalty, trust, and responsibility

•The difference between surface-level friendships and true lifelong bonds

•Why so many veterans lose connection after hanging up the boots

•How men can rebuild brotherhood in civilian life

•The mental, emotional, and spiritual impact of losing that military tribe

•What every Soldier, Veteran, husband, and father should know about male connection

This episode is honest… and it’s necessary. Brotherhood doesn’t stop when the uniform comes off — but keeping it alive takes intention.

  • What We Didn’t Know Could’ve Killed Us: Prostate Cancer & Black Men’s Lived Experiences

Breaking the Silence on Prostate Cancer Risk, Advocacy, and Survival for Black Men.

Prostate cancer is often called a “silent killer” — and for Black men, the risk is higher, the conversations are fewer, and the consequences can be deadly when warnings are missed.

In this episode of Four Titles, One Truth, Tommie and Lance sit down with retired CSM Maurice Jackson, a prostate cancer survivor...For an honest, perspective-based conversation about prostate cancer through three Black men’s lived experiences.

None of us are speaking as doctors. We’re speaking as men — one with medical training and close family exposure, one who learned the seriousness of prostate cancer late in life during military retirement exams, and one who was in peak physical condition when rising PSA numbers were initially overlooked before being diagnosed with prostate cancer in his 33rd year of service.

    Together, we discuss:

•When prostate cancer first became “real” for each of us

•Why prostate cancer is rarely talked about openly among Black men

•What we didn’t know — and wish we had known earlier

•The importance of self-advocacy in healthcare

•Fear, masculinity, and avoiding shame around screenings

•How personal and family experiences change how we approach our health

•One immediate step Black men should take after hearing this conversation

This episode is not medical advice. It’s lived experience, shared to raise awareness, encourage dialogue, and help Black men take ownership of their health before silence takes something that can’t be replaced.

🎧 If this conversation made you uncomfortable, that’s okay.

🎧 If it made you think, that’s the point.

🎧 If it leads you to take action, then it mattered.

  • Money Lessons We Never Got: Financial Truths Every Young Black Man Needs to Hear

Financial Truths for Young Black Men.

In this episode of Four Titles, One Truth, Tommie and Lance have a real, necessary conversation about money — specifically the financial lessons many young Black men were never taught growing up.

Joined by our special guest CSM(R) Milton Connally, the conversation explores how money was discussed (or not discussed) in our homes, the financial habits we had to learn the hard way, and how systems, culture, and lack of access often leave Black men unprepared to manage, protect, and grow their money.

This isn’t about get-rich-quick schemes or financial perfection. It’s about honesty, awareness, and education — learning how to make better financial decisions, avoid common traps, and build long-term stability for ourselves and our families.

What We Talk About in This Episode:

•The money lessons Black men often don’t receive growing up

•How financial mistakes become generational without guidance

•The difference between income and financial literacy

•How the military shapes (and sometimes limits) financial thinking

•Why budgeting, saving, and investing matter early

•The real cost of poor financial decisions

•How financial education impacts confidence, leadership, and legacy

•Why young Black men deserve better financial conversations

Four Titles, One Truth is a real-talk podcast for Black men navigating life as fathers, husbands, veterans, and men — building community through truth, growth, and shared experience.
