• Daily Prayer for the Feast of the Presentation
    Feb 2 2026

Another Monday, another Feast Day: this time it's February 2nd, Groundhog's Day also known as the Feast of the Presentation of Our Lord in the Temple. That's a long title for a sweet and simple day.

The chant tone I'm using come from the Plainsong Psalter, although I modify the language of the Psalms occasionally using the Inclusive Language Psalter and other resources. You can download a .pdf of the Psalter if you want to chant it along with me - that's one of the best ways to learn.

It's a feast day, which means Psalm 67 and a long reading from Acts. If you're lucky you might get knocked off your horse. Caveat emptor...

It's St. John, all the way down. Today's meditation references Sandra Schneider's Written That You May Believe (Crossroads, 2003). Today is all about the Samaritan woman at the well.

We're starting a multi-week journey through the Gospel according to St. John today. I'm using, among other resources, L. William Countryman's book, The Mystical Way in the Fourth Gospel (Morehourse, 1994). Today's text is a funny little exchange about purification, "he must increase and I must decrease."
