Zu den wenigen Ausnahmen auf Utram gehört der kritische Astrophysiker Astran-den-Sur. Mit einigen Freunden hat er Vorsorge getroffen. Doch mehr als eine Widerstandszelle können sie nicht bilden. Dennoch gerät die erste Landewelle der Goronnen in schwere Bedrängnis. Sie stoßen in der Hauptstadt unerwartet auf einen gut organisierten Widerstand der Stadtpolizei. Obwohl die Toraxaner von Natur aus sehr phlegmatisch veranlagt sind, neigen einige dazu, in Ausnahmefällen, zu wahren Kampfmaschinen zu mutieren. Dieser Umstand und die Tatsache, dass die meisten Soldaten der Landetruppen nur oberflächlich ausgebildet sind, fordert auf beiden Seiten hohe Verluste. Für die Goronnen ist das kein Problem. Wie lange aber die Toraxaner diesen hohen Blutzoll entrichten können ist fraglich. Personen und Handlung dieses Buches sind frei erfunden.
