About this listen

Are you an exhausted nurse running on empty? Do you feel irritable after every shift, emotionally numb, or like you're just surviving instead of thriving? Maybe you're a night shift nurse who can't sleep, a bedside nurse drowning in documentation, or a healthcare mom who feels like she's failing everyone.

You want work-life balance, but it feels impossible. You crave connection with God, quality time with your spouse and kids, and just five minutes of peace—but patience and presence seem out of reach after another exhausting shift. You know you need self-care, but you're so depleted from caring for everyone else that you don't even know where to start.

Sound familiar? You might not realize it yet, but you're experiencing nurse burnout—or heading there fast.

You're in the right place, and you're not alone.

I'm Shan Wright—wife, mom to 4, Registered Nurse, and Holistic Nurse Coach. I've been where you are: burnt out at bedside, struggling with postpartum anxiety, feeling disconnected from God and my family, and wondering if this exhausting cycle was just "how it is" for nurses. After burning out in bedside nursing, I realized I couldn't pour from an empty cup. I sought the Prince of PEACE and charted my way to whole-body wellness through simple, faith-based holistic practices—and I'm excited to share them with you!

On this podcast, you'll discover how to:

  • Overcome high-functioning fatigue and stop just surviving shift to shift
  • Set boundaries without guilt at work and home
  • Manage nursing stress so work doesn't hijack your home life
  • Process emotions through faith-based practices instead of suppressing them
  • Create sustainable self-care that doesn't feel like another task
  • Build emotional resilience to handle difficult patients and workplace drama
  • Find work-life balance that actually works for 12-hour shifts
  • Reclaim your energy, peace, and purpose beyond the badge
  • Experience joy by embracing your identity in Christ—not just as a nurse

Let's get our heads out of the medication cart and never-ending charting and courageously navigate this nursing journey TOGETHER!

Go ahead—heat up that coffee (again), clock out mentally, and let's chat, Nurse!

God's got this. New episodes every week.

  • 229/ The Best Practice for Every Perfectionist & High-Achiever [Breathe & Be Still Series]
    Apr 28 2026

Welcome to another breath prayer episode, in the Breathe and be still series. Let's breathe and be still and know that He is Lord and you are safe, known, loved by Him.

Maycember is upon us and we need a breath prayer for the busy, the hurried, the month that is extra, the MOM in may....and the one who is already stressed out BEFORE may!

And this one is special...this one is personal.

This breath prayer — More of You, Less of Me — was the first one I ever clung to. It found me in the middle of my burnout season. And if you're a high achiever, a recovering perfectionist, someone who has built their identity on doing things right — I believe it's going to find you today too.

    Shalom Shalom,

    Xx, Shan

  • 228/ Feeling Burnt Out? My Favorite, Quick, Simple Hack That Works!
    Apr 21 2026

Hi Nurse, What if the most powerful burnout recovery tool available to you cost nothing, required no prescription, and took less than seven minutes a day?

In this fan-favorite episode — one of the most played in the Beat Nurse Burnout library — Shan Wright, RN and holistic stress expert, shares the simplest, most clinically supported, and most spiritually grounded hack for anxiety she knows: singing truth out loud.

This is not a feel-good suggestion. This is neuroscience meeting scripture — and the results will make your clinical brain stop in its tracks.

IN THIS EPISODE YOU WILL LEARN:

    • Why your brain cannot simultaneously hold anxiety and spoken truth — and how to use that fact to interrupt the anxiety loop in real time
    • The jaw-dropping science behind seven minutes of daily worship music — including reduced cortisol, lower inflammation, decreased anxiety and depression, boosted immune function, reduced pain perception, and increased neuroplasticity
    • How burnout carves grooves of fear and cynicism into your neural pathways — and how worship begins to carve new ones
    • Why David sent worship before the battle, Jehoshaphat sent worshippers before the army, and how ancient scripture knew what neuroscience is only now catching up to
    • The biblical command to remember — and why God gave His people a song instead of a sermon
    • Shan's go-to worship playlist for anxiety, overwhelm, spiritual silence, and waiting seasons

    SONGS MENTIONED:

    • Firm Foundation — Cody Carnes
    • Silence — JWLKS
    • Gratitude / Worthy of It All — Brandon Lake & Natalie Grant
    • Windows Down- Cain
    • The Only Way Through — Benjamin William Hastings

    SCRIPTURE REFERENCED:

    • Psalm 98:1
    • Deuteronomy 31:19
    • 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

YOUR PRACTICE FROM THIS EPISODE: Seven minutes of worship every day — morning, midday, or before bed. Start a playlist today. And sing out loud. Even if you feel nothing. Especially if you feel nothing.

  • 227/ Burnt Out Bedside to Kingdom Business: Turn Your Nursing Skills Into Your Calling [with Leniesha Norwood, RN]
    Apr 14 2026

Hey friend! I am so glad you are here today, because this episode — this one right here — is one I have been genuinely excited to bring to you.

Have you ever had that quiet, persistent feeling that God is calling you to something more — something beyond the bedside — but you did not know what to do with it? Maybe you have been faithful to your nursing career, you have given it everything, and yet there is this stirring in your spirit that will not go away. Like there is something else. Something bigger. Something you were built for that your nursing license alone cannot contain.

If that resonates with you — stay right where you are. Because today's guest was made for this conversation.

I have the honor of introducing you to Leniesha Norwood. Leniesha is a critical care nurse, a homeschool mom, an entrepreneur, a Holy Spirit-led coach, and the host of the Nurse to CEO Podcast. She brings over two decades of healthcare experience to everything she does — and she has spent that time not just caring for patients, but paying attention to what God was building in her through every single shift.

She mentors nurses who feel that tension — the one so many of you know — between serving faithfully at the bedside and sensing God calling them to more.

In today's episode, Leniesha is unpacking something that I think is going to genuinely shift how you see yourself. Because here is the truth she is going to walk you through: you have been trained in far more than patient care. The skills you use every single day at the bedside; your ability to teach, to lead under pressure, to simplify complex information, to guide people through some of the hardest moments of their lives.... those are not just nursing skills. Those are Kingdom skills. Those are coaching skills. Those are the skills that build something that lasts beyond a 12-hour shift.

Romans 11:29 says: "For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable." That means what God placed in you did not expire at the bedside. And today, Leneisha is going to help you start seeing that clearly.

Now — I also want to make sure you know about something special she has coming up. On April 22nd at 11:30 AM Eastern, Leniesha is hosting the RN to CEO Shift Workshop — and it is going exactly where today's conversation is going, only deeper. She is going to walk you through how your nursing skills translate into coaching, mentorship, online business, and Kingdom-centered impact. Real examples. Practical steps. And the clarity you have been looking for about what your "next" could actually look like.
