  • Ep. 10: How Much Does a Father Really Matter?
    May 31 2018

This is the longest episode in the series because we talked to so many people. It is a general survey of the state of modern fatherhood. We speak to a family that has three members: a lesbian couple and the gay father. We speak to somebody who lived among the Aka tribe in the Congo who are the world’s greatest fathers, who even occasionally breastfeed their children. We travel to Japan and attend classes in fatherhood for men who have no experience of living with their own children. It is a profoundly moving journey which shows that fatherhood, while being redefined constantly, remains vital.

  • Ep. 9: How Do You Talk to Your Children About Porn?
    May 31 2018

Internet pornography is increasingly one of the dominant issues of human sexuality. YouPorn alone is four times as big as the website for CNN. The effects of this vast new force on our sexual lives, and on the lives of our sons, are still totally unknown. I mean, Internet pornography arrived in my life in my mid-thirties and it threw me. Imagine what it must be like for a fifteen-year old boy. We talk to pro-porn people and anti-porn people. We also discuss porn with a porn star - “the smallest cock in the hall of fame” - who happens to be one of the most wonderful, loving fathers we spoke to in the whole show.

  • Ep. 8: The Dangers of Smart Phones
    May 31 2018

I was more scared about giving my kid a phone than about anything else I have exposed him to. Imagine what he can do with it. It’s like giving him a bottle of bourbon and a gun at the same time. Here we look past the fear and the hype: What are the advantages of having your kid on a phone (knowing where they are, increasing their social exposure)? What are the disadvantages? It’s all very well and good to say, "the less technology the better." But the technology is so damn useful.

Apart from the first chapter which I did not enjoy at all I found the rest of the book hillarious. I truly enjoyed it, made me laugh so much and I would fully recomend it.

Brilliant!

My kids are now grown up and I wish Stephen Marche had been around when I started out. I gave my 3 kids complicated names and they have had to learn to deal with it. They book restaurants using aliases to make life easier!

Each chapter was thought provoking, amusing and touched on many nerves. I laughed out loud at times and paused to think how I had dealt with things. At no time does Stephen lecture, he is open minded and seeking pathways.

I should add that I am a Mother and most subjects apply to both parents!

Brilliant listen for ALL parents

I found a few of these topics quite relevant. Good listen and execution. some lacked specific relevance such as racist books or porn but I assume it will become more relevant later on

This was a really engaging listen. Even though as a British Mum I am not the target audience there was still loads to relate to, laugh about and think about too! Will recommend to my friends.

A really enjoyable look into parenting

This is a brilliant podcast for modern Dads. You may not relate with all of the topics but it is likely you will with the majority. Stephen is brutally honest about the trial and tribulations he has faced in Fatherhood and there are frank discussions with experts and other parents who have dealt with similar issues. All in all a very valuable use of your time for all parents. Thoroughly recommended.
