In the hollows of the Ozarks, a crumbling white clapboard meeting hall stands at the end of a gravel road. Luna steps up to the pulpit, dust motes spinning in the bare bulb light, and opens a hymnal whose pages are yellowed and warped, as if soaked through by something other than rain. Each episode of this anthology is a self-contained story drawn from the hymnal's entries — accounts of congregations that held too many closed-door sessions, of hymns that echoed through empty woods long after the last singer left. A deacon's wife who began speaking in languages that predate the church. A Sunday school teacher who found a child's prayer answered in flesh that should have stayed buried. The choir director who could hear the harmonies of the damned. Luna narrates these tales with the same hush she'd use in a confessional, her voice the only sound in the hall save the creak of pews and the whisper of paper. Each visit to the compound peels back another layer of the faith that sustains this place — and the rot beneath the floorboards. Some hymns are sung only once. Some are never finished. Enter the meeting hall. Turn the page. But do not hum along. #OzarkHorror #FolkHorror #ReligiousHorror #CultHorror #AnthologyHorror #RuralHorror #Appalachia #SmallTownHorror #HymnalHorror #MeetingHall #SouthernGothic #SlowBurnHorror #AtmosphericHorror #FexingoHorror #HorrorPodcast #StorytellingHorror #Horror #PodcastHorror Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo© 2026 Fexingo. • The Offering Plate at Salem Primitive Baptist Church
    Jun 29 2026
In the autumn of 1995, outside the dying town of Chance, Kentucky, Salem Primitive Baptist Church held its last service before the building was sold to a developer. Luna's great-aunt had been the caretaker for forty years, and she asked Luna to help clear out the pews before the bulldozers came. The church was already hollowed out — hymnals boxed, the cross removed, even the pump organ carted away. But one thing remained, tucked behind the pulpit: a brass offering plate tarnished nearly black. Luna's aunt told her it hadn't been used since the early 1950s, when a traveling preacher had come through and something had gone wrong during the offering. No one talked about it, but everyone remembered the sound the plate made when the coins fell. Luna walked through the empty building, the plate in her hands, and tried to imagine what could make a whole congregation stop coming to church. This episode is about what happens when a place holds onto something you can't see, and what it feels like to be the one who finally carries it out into the light. #HymnsFromTheCompound #FexingoHorror #HorrorPodcast #SalemPrimitiveBaptist #ChanceKentucky #OfferingPlate #Brass #1995 #Autumn #EmptyChurch #LastService #Memory #Silence #Dread #Unknown #SmallTownHorror #Atmospheric #SoloNarrated Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo

  • The Bible at Gravel Switch
    Jun 28 2026
In the late autumn of 1997, Luna's mother took her to the rickety white-clapboard church on the outskirts of Gravel Switch, Kentucky, where a revival had been running for three weeks straight. The preacher was a man no one had seen before, and the congregation was made up of faces that seemed to know things they shouldn't. Luna sat in the third pew, sweating through her dress, while the preacher read from a Bible that was not the same book it had been when the service began. By the time the offering plate came around, the words on the page had rearranged themselves into something that was not scripture. This is the story of what she saw in the yellow light of those bare bulbs, and what she found in the back of the hymnal when she finally got home. #GravelSwitchKY #courthouse #preacher #Bible #hymnal #offeringplate #rearrangedwords #revival #1997 #autumn #Lunasmother #pew #stain #hunger #FexingoHorror #HorrorPodcast #HymnsFromTheCompound #AnthologyHorror Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo

  • The Vestry at Bethel Grove Church
    Jun 27 2026
In the winter of 1998, Luna's cousin Judith took a secretarial job at Bethel Grove Church in Pikeville, Kentucky. The pay was good, the work was simple—filing hymns from the 1940s, typing up bulletins. But there was a room off the vestry that no one talked about. A door with a lock that clicked from the other side. A faint humming that started at 3:17 every afternoon. Judith started leaving early. Then she stopped leaving at all. This is what Luna found when she went looking for her. #HymnsFromTheCompound #FexingoHorror #HorrorPodcast #BethelGroveChurch #PikevilleKentucky #Vestry #CousinJudith #Humming #LockedRoom #1998 #Winter #RuralHorror #SlowBurn #Atmospheric #SoloNarration #Luna #ChurchHorror #AppalachianGothic Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
