About this listen

Hello, and welcome to The Author's Inscape, a podcast hosted by BYU's Inscape, a literary journal. My name is Starly Pratt, and I am a graduate student here at BYU in the MFA program, specializing in fiction writing. I will be the host of The Author's Inscape. “Inscape” is a term coined by Gerard Manley Hopkins and refers to the unique inner essence or distinctive characteristics that define a particular object, scene, or individual. In artistic contexts, inscape can describe the distinctive beauty or essence of a natural scene, especially as perceived through artistic expression.

Our hope is to explore the inscape behind authors, poets, artists, and other creatives. In our episodes, you can expect to listen to conversations with creatives, dramatic readings, and much more.
