  • Sky's the Limit: Military Pilot (IAF) Garima Dixit's Inspiring Story | Career Quest with Hrehaan EP4
    May 13 2026

ENGINEER STUDENT TO MILITARY PILOT TO BE CORPORATE LEADER: FLYING HIGH WITH GARIMA DIXIT'S INSPIRING STORY OF PERSEVERANCE AND SUCCESS

"There are only two options. Either we win or we learn. There is no failure in life." - Garima Dixit

I recently had the opportunity to interview Garima Dixit, a former military pilot with 16 years of experience in the Indian Air Force. Her story is truly inspiring, and I learned a lot from her about perseverance, hard work, and determination.

    A Journey of Perseverance:

Garima's journey to becoming a pilot was not easy. She faced many challenges, including air sickness and the pressure to perform. During her flying career, she encountered a particularly intense moment when she experienced a hydraulic failure in her helicopter. The servos that assist with controlling the aircraft failed, making it harder to handle. However, Garima and her co-pilot were trained to respond to such situations and were able to take control of the aircraft and land it safely near their base.

A Mindset of Winning or Learning:

One of the most inspiring aspects of Garima's story is her approach to challenges. She believes that "there are only two options. Either we win or we learn. There is no failure in life." This mindset has helped her navigate the ups and downs of her career, and it is a valuable lesson for anyone looking to pursue their dreams.

    From Military to Corporate:

Garima's transition to a corporate role was also fascinating. She brought with her the skills and discipline she developed during her flying career, including leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving. Her story is a testament to the power of determination and the importance of following one's dreams.

    Defining Success:

When asked what success means to her, Garima shared that it's about being satisfied and experiencing life in the present moment. She believes that success is not just about achieving a particular goal or milestone, but about living a life that is true to oneself and finding fulfillment and joy in what you do. As she puts it, "I think success, what it really means to me is being satisfied. How's your experience in the present moment? Success is not, that's what I feel. Our life is not played on live television for anyone else to watch. Our life is for us to experience it, right? To experience it in the most beautiful way... If you are able to experience say around 85% to 90% you're like happy within whatever is happening outside. Fine, I have acceptance. The moment you have acceptance and you feel that okay my experience is going fine, I think that's success."

    Lessons Learned:

Throughout her journey, Garima has learned valuable lessons that she is eager to share with others. She believes in the importance of perseverance, hard work, and believing in oneself. Garima's story is a shining example of what can be achieved through hard work, determination, and a passion for one's work.

    Key Takeaways:

    - Garima's journey to becoming a pilot was not easy, but she persevered and worked hard to overcome the challenges.

    - Her approach to challenges is inspiring, and her mindset of "win or learn" is a valuable lesson for anyone looking to pursue their dreams.

    - Garima's transition to a corporate role was fascinating, and she brought with her the skills and discipline she developed during her flying career.

    - Her story is a testament to the power of determination and the importance of following one's dreams.
