Mariele Courtois is a college professor at Benedictine college and part of the Vatican Dicastery for Culture and Education’s AI Research Group. And in today’s podcast, she joins Ben Eriksen to begin unpacking Pope Leo XIV’s encyclical in light of the practical circumstances facing individuals today. They begin by highlighting a few themes from “Magnifica Humanitas” that have they find most relevant and insightful. Then they unpack some of these principles by discussing if and how AI should be used in our everyday lives. Is it wise to have AI draft emails, conduct research, or produce art? What considerations should we weigh when making these decisions? While more conversations like this are needed, the two hope that this discussion can continue to inform the viewers as we all seek to navigate the changing landscape of the modern century.

Today, Ben Eriksen is joined by Thomas Jacobi, editor at Ignatius Press, and Alexander von Lengerke, YOUCAT illustrator, to talk about the new “YOUCAT Love Forever book.” The three of them discuss the importance of this work not only for college students, but also for young adults, engaged couples, and even those that are already married. This book explains the Church’s teaching on gender and sexual morality. But it isn’t a list of don’ts; instead, it articulates the beauty of God’s understanding of love and what beautiful possibilities there are for those that avail themselves of His love and plan for their lives.

Yet this book isn’t just a moral guide and explainer; it seeks to give people concrete practical answers to specific and detailed questions about dating, engagement, friendship, and marital struggles. We truly believe this book can revolutionize how Catholics understand love, and we hope it finds its way into the hands of every person.

This novel has been recently translated and published by Ignatius Press, and it is championed by Vivian Dudro.
