Summary

This Sunday, Pastor Tim Richards will be continuing the series entitled "In Him--Paul's Letter to the Ephesians," looking this week at Ephesians 5:1-14. SERMON QUESTIONS : 1. Ephesians 5:1 begins with the word “Therefore”, which ties what comes next to what has been said previously. Read Ephesians 4:32. How does Paul’s statement after “Therefore” relate to the statement before it?

2. Considering Paul’s emphasis on unity in this letter, why do you think he picks the particular things listed in Ephesians 5:3-4 as not appropriate among God’s people?

3. Is it significant that Paul says they “were darkness” but now “are light” as opposed to saying they “were in darkness” but now are “in light”? What difference does it make?

4. Someone has said that light is a great disinfectant. When Paul says we should expose darkness (Ephesians 5:11-13), is his focus on exposing darkness outside or inside the church? What kind of exposure do you think is healthy vs unhealthy?
