About this listen

A father and son podcast about movies, horror, and the moments that stick with you long after the credits roll. We talk horror, classics, new releases, and whatever else we feel like watching that week. Some episodes get into what makes a movie work. Some turn into debates. Some are just us trying to figure out why something scared us… or didn't. We're not experts. We just take movies a little too seriously. Episodes
  • Episode 3: It's Such a Beautiful Day
    Apr 3 2026

    Some movies tell a story.

This one kind of… drifts through one.

In this episode, Jack and George sit with It's Such a Beautiful Day, a film that feels simple on the surface and then slowly becomes something else entirely. It's quiet, strange, and at times unexpectedly heavy.

    We talk about:

    • how a movie with almost nothing in it can still feel overwhelming
    • what it means to follow a character you don't fully understand
    • and whether this is even a movie you're supposed to "get"

This one hits differently depending on how you watch it.

And we definitely didn't watch it the same way.

  • Episode 2: Ready or Not 2
    Mar 26 2026

    There are bad nights.

    And then there are
    hide-and-seek-with-a-rich-family-that-wants-you-dead nights.

In this episode, Jack and George step into Ready or Not 2 and try to figure out why watching people panic in a giant house is… kind of a great time.

    We talk about:

    • why simple premises hit so hard
    • the difference between fun scary and actually scary
    • and how long we'd realistically survive in this situation

(Jack thinks he has a plan. I strongly disagree.)

Some movies try to be smart.
Some movies just know exactly what they are.

This one might be both. But, that's a big MIGHT.

    We're two episodes in.

    No strategy.
    No master plan.

Just watching movies and seeing what sticks.

  • Episode 1: Project Hail Mary
    Mar 23 2026

There's a man alone in space.
    No memory.
    No plan.
Just a problem that might end everything.

So naturally… we talk about it.

In our first episode, Jack and George dive into Project Hail Mary and what makes a story like this actually work. Is it the science? The stakes? Or just the fact that watching one guy try not to completely screw everything up feels… a little too relatable?

    We get into:

    • why space stories hit differently
    • what makes a character worth rooting for
    • and whether either of us would last more than 10 minutes in this situation

    (Spoiler: we would not.)

This is the start of something.
We're figuring it out as we go.
But that's kind of the point.
