During World War II, one name became closely associated with the horrors of Auschwitz: Josef Mengele.
A trained physician and officer within the Nazi regime, Mengele carried out a series of so-called medical experiments on prisoners, actions that have since become some of the most widely condemned in modern history.
After the war ended, he evaded capture for decades, moving across continents while international efforts to locate him continued. His disappearance, and the years he spent in hiding, added another layer to a story already defined by cruelty and unanswered questions.
In this episode, we examine his early life, his role during the war, the global manhunt that followed, and how his legacy continues to shape discussions around ethics, accountability, and justice.
