  • J Randy Taraborrelli
    Mar 24 2026

J Randy Taraborrelli is a best-selling biographer and one of the most highly acclaimed historians of the Kennedys.

His latest book, JFK: Public, Private, Secret, gives a richly detailed portrait of John F. Kennedy that explores beyond the iconic “Camelot” myth, to examine the man in three dimensions: his public life as Senator and President; his private life as husband, son, and brother; and his secret life of inner conflicts, personal flaws and hidden relationships.

Drawing on decades of archival research, oral histories, Secret Service and intelligence files, he paints Kennedy as a great man with great flaws.

Join Randy and Red as they side-step the mythology and conspiracy theories to examine the underlying character of the 35th President of The United States, and who he might have become had he lived to win another term in office.

  • Amy Spurway
    Mar 9 2026

Amy Spurway is a Canadian writer from Cape Breton, which is also the setting for her debut novel, Crow.

When Stacey Fortune is diagnosed with three unpredictable, and inoperable, brain tumours, she abandons the crumbling glamour of her life in Toronto for her mother’s scruffy trailer in the backwoods. On Cape Breton, Stacy is known as Crow, and everybody believes that her family is cursed.

With the ticking time-bombs in her brain sending her increasingly vivid hallucinations, Crow obstinately sets out to gather the strands of her life together and weave them into some kind of coherent story about who she is and where she came from, before it’s too late.

By turns hilariously irreverent and deeply moving, Crow unapologetically asks challenging questions in a voice that revels in its regionality.

  • RC Shaw
    Feb 23 2026

In 1898 Joshua Slocum completed the first single-handed circumnavigation of the globe. His account of the three-year, 46,000-mile adventure, Sailing Alone Around the World, became an instant classic that has remained in print ever since. A decade later, he set out for the Amazon and was lost at sea.

In Captain Solitude: One Surfer's Search for the World's Greatest Sailor, his fellow Nova Scotian, RC Shaw, sets out on a solo journey of his own:

to cycle and surf his way through Bluenose country, to Slocum’s childhood home of Brier Island.

Wild camping, avoiding bears, and with his trusty surfboard strapped to his cargo bike, he chases waves, encounters the ghosts of maritime history, and contemplates the spirit of adventure that drives us to explore beyond the ordinary.

Join Ryan and Red as they discuss high stakes fun, and the enduring power of literature to inspire people to explore their boundaries.
