We'll see you in the next edition of Best of Redmond!🎯 History Minute AnswerThe answer is B – Mink fur farming.Redmond had mink ranches along Way 120 in the 1950s. When the fur industry crashed in 1960, the ranches shut down. Nationwide there were nearly 7,000 mink farms in the mid-1950s, but prices collapsed and the business quickly declined. Before Redmond became the tech hub we know today, it was home to a thriving agricultural community—and raising mink for luxury fur coats was one of its more unusual industries. It's another reminder that Redmond's history is a lot more interesting than most people realize.
