The Lord is risen indeed! For Christians around the world, this is a day to celebrate — Jesus is alive and well. The resurrection surprised many who didn't believe, and even some of His own disciples. Today we reflect on how God is a God of wonderful surprises.

On this Palm Sunday we are remembering not only the entrance of Jesus into the city of Jerusalem, but we are taking a look at what happened just a few days later on a hill called Calvary. The question has sometimes been raised, "Who was it that crucified Jesus?" Was it the Romans, the Jews, the angry mob? Just who was responsible for His death on that old, rugged cross? That's what we are going to think about today.

Last Sunday our thoughts were on the subject of "The Holiness of God." But God's holiness is only a part of the true picture of God. Today we look at God's nature, not just as a God of power, majesty, and splendor, but also a God who is near us, as the song says, "He walks with me and He talks with me." He is a God who is a God of love. The Apostle Paul said in Romans 5:8, "God commended his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Let's unfold what God's love really means to us all.
