From addiction to healing, Kendra opens up about what changed and why it matters.

In this episode, Jen sits down with Kendra Bates to talk about her journey through addiction and into recovery. Kendra shares how her story began in Columbus, took a difficult turn in California, and ultimately led her to seek help through City Gospel Mission’s recovery program.

She opens up about the ups and downs of rehab, what it was like to keep trying again, and the moment everything began to shift. After a Bible study, Kendra experienced the love of Jesus in a deeply personal way, which changed the direction of her life and gave her a new sense of purpose.

Kendra’s story is honest, hopeful, and full of encouragement for anyone who feels stuck. She reminds us that healing is possible, life can be different, and God meets us right when we need Him most.

In this episode, I introduce Internal Family Systems (IFS) and share some of what I’ve discovered so far. It’s not a deep dive, just an honest reflection on how this framework has started to give language to things I’ve felt for a long time but couldn’t quite explain.

It’s helped me begin to understand the different parts of myself and why they show up the way they do.

When Jesus is invited into this process, everything changes. Instead of trying to fix ourselves, His presence meets us with compassion, truth, and peace—right in the middle of it all.

This episode is simply an invitation to explore, to grow in awareness, and to see that God is not distant from your inner world—He’s present in it.
